ABC upfront

ABC PRIMETIME SCHEDULE FOR FALL 2006-07

*New programs in CAPS

MONDAY:
8:00 p.m. "Wife Swap" - zzzz.
9:00 p.m. "The Bachelor"/"Supernanny" - zzzz.
10:00 p.m. "What About Brian" -- Surprising, seeing how poorly it started. zzz...

TUESDAY:
8:00 p.m. "Dancing with the Stars" (new night)/"SET FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE" (new alternative series) - A game show? ABC? Huh.
9:00 p.m. "LET'S ROB..." (new comedy series) - It's "My Name is Earl" meets "It Takes a Thief", from the producers of "Ed", and starring Donal Louge from "Grounded for Life".
9:30 p.m. "HELP ME HELP YOU" (new comedy series) - Didn't we see this already? It was called "Dear John"... or "The Bob Newharts Show" ...
10:00 p.m. "Boston Legal"

WEDNESDAY: 8:00 p.m.
"Dancing with the Stars" (new night)/"George Lopez"/"According to Jim" (new night)
9:00 p.m. "Lost" - with 100% less reruns this season!
10:00 p.m. "THE NINE" (new drama series) - "Lost" in a bank robbery, starring Chi McBride who I loved from "John Laroquette", Tim Daly ("Wings"), and Kim Raver ("24")

THURSDAY:
8:00 p.m. "BIG DAY" (new comedy series) - ABC's release says it all - "If '24' married 'Father of the Bride,' their child would be 'Big Day.'"
8:30 p.m. "NOTES FROM THE UNDERBELLY" (new comedy series) - Remember that one episode of "Mad About You" where they tried to keep their pregnancy a secret from everyone? Well, this show is making a whole season of that concept.
9:00 p.m. "Grey's Anatomy" (new night and time) - Holy mother of ... against NBC's "Studio 60", and probably against CBS's "CSI"?!?
10:00 p.m. "SIX DEGREES" (new drama series) - As in "...of separation". Six New Yorkers who don't know each other get tangled up in something, courtesy of J. J. Abrams.

FRIDAY:
8:00 p.m. "BETTY THE UGLY" (new comedy series) - Ugly being an understatement, since we are talking about a romantic comedy in the fashion world.
9:00 p.m. "MEN IN TREES" (new drama series) - Hitch means "Northern Exposure", starring Anne Heche
10:00 p.m. "20/20"

SATURDAY:
8:00 p.m. "ABC Saturday Night College Football"

SUNDAY:
7:00 p.m. "America's Funniest Home Videos"
8:00 p.m. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"
9:00 p.m. "Desperate Housewives"
10:00 p.m. "BROTHERS & SISTERS" (new drama series) - Some sort of dramatic family show. Kinda hard to put my finger on this one from the description so far.

So here's the big news -- No "Commander in Chief". Lost stays where it is. "Grey's Anatomy" is moving to challenge NBC and CBS on Thursdays. I fully expect NBC to blink first. "Six Degrees" is going to have a huge lead-in with Grey's. Patricia Wettig is on "Brothers & Sisters", so are her days on "Prison Break" numbered? Kim Raver is on "The Nine", so I don't think she'll be back for the sixth longest day in Jack Bauer's life.

Two nights of Dancing with the Stars? An hour-long comedy on Friday nights?

Let's not forget Chi McBride in Boston Public...and the two aired episodes of The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer...

Having never watched the show, I assume that "Dancing" do the same thing as "Idol" -- a show of performance, and a results show the day later.

And the hour long comedy is strange, but it's a romantic thing, so maybe a blended dramedy with more comedic tones than drama...?

Let's Rob -- You know ABC was itching to cast Sofia Vergeros (sp?) in something. Anything.
Help Me Help You -- This looks promising, but I always work Tuesdays and don't have a TIVO.
Six Degrees -- The picture of the cast in the link was shot across 23rd Street from the Flatiron Building. Actually, that's the backdrop; I suspect the cast posed against a green screen.
Brothers and Sisters -- Same name as a frat rats comedy from 27 years ago in the wake of Animal House; each network had one. (That one, from NBC, was the best of the lot, but that's a matter of degrees.) This may set the record for most different pictures Photoshopped into one.

No you aren't. And as to your CiC points, I totally agree. I tried to watch this show. I even tried again later on, and both times I just couldn't give a rat's ass about the characters. And Geena Davis was a horrible choice for the role, IMHO.

But there are others that really liked the show, for reasons that escape me.
