  • Open in tabs difficult to use (Right click, Open all bookmarks versus middle click in Firefox)

  • Also, if there is a folder inside a folder and you open all bookmarks, you open them ALL including the subfolder.

  • The control of the new tabs is funky. Only allows for opening but does not change focus. No option to change this that I can see

  • The home page is not on the toolbar by default, and be default is set to the New Tab instead of a new address

  • There's no Undo Closed Tab!!!

  • Flash is enabled by default. One of the best Firefox extensions to me is FlashBlock.

Not initially impressed enough to shift from Firefox. I already miss some things...

For those of you who have downloaded Firefox 3, I beg you to type about:robots in the location bar.

Firefox

Remember how Mozilla wanted to break world records by creating the Firefox Download Day? Well, it was so popular that the site is down, and has been for about 90 minutes.

I'm glad I have Firefox with FlashBlock.

Has anyone else noticed that LJ made some changes overnight, causing Firefox to react a little wonky?

More for me to find again than you to read about, but still... oh and I finally broke down and found a Firefox icon.

Forecastfox
Get international weather forecasts from AccuWeather.com, and display it in any toolbar or statusbar with this highly customizable and unobtrusive extension.

Bookmark Backup
Bookmark Backup is a simple extension that helps to keep your bookmarks (and optionally other Firefox settings) safe. Each time Firefox is closed, a copy of your bookmarks file will be made to a backup location. If Firefox's bookmarks become corrupted or lost, find the most recent uncorrupted backup and copy it into your profile folder.

Linkification
Allows Firefox (0.9+) to view plain-text URLs and e-mail addresses as actual links

Copy Plain Text
Copies text without formatting

Tabbrowser Preferences
This extension provides a comprehensive UI for changing a number of the hidden tabbed browsing preferences in Firefox. It also provides the ability to control how internal and external links are opened in the browser and how the browser will react when links are sent to it.

TinyUrl Creator
This extension brings the http://tinyurl.com functionality closer to your fingertips. It will convert a long URL into a much smaller, more managable one which is easier to share through email and instant messanger. This

IE Tab
An extension from Taiwan, features: Embedding Internet Explorer in tabs of Mozilla/Firefox. This is a great tool for web developers, since you can easily see how your webpage displayed in IE with just one click and then switch back to Firefox. (CRK note - I no longer have to click the big blue E to do things that "require IE". Frackin' ActiveX...)

RTFM
Firefox 1.5 is out Navigate carefully.

Also, many extensions (GreaseMonkey, etc.) don't work with this yet, so be prepared to address those issues if you upgrade.

For a little while tonight, we were under a tsunami warning. It's just not something that you hear for SoCal, ya know?

BTW, this was due to the 7.0 earthquake out in the Pacific Ocean near the CA-OR border. Doesn't look like were a lot of people who really felt it, according to the USGS site.

Of course, how did I find out about this? ForecastFox displayed a Severe Weather Alert.

Anyone have an automated backup solution for Firefox and/or IE? I need to preserve, at minimum, my bookmarks/favorites on a regular interval, so manually performing an export is out of the picture here. Ideally, I'd like one solution that covers both browsers, but two if needed are acceptable. Any input on this matter would be appreciated.

EDIT: I don't think I have to mention this, but FREE is a good thing. =)

Tired.
Had fun.
Pics and info to come. EDIT: Preview
Updating to Firefox 1.0.4.
Will be watching TAR7, though the frackin' USA Today already spoiled the ending.
Need to catch up on other shows like 24.
My work email is over the size limit. *snicker*

I think DorkTower has pretty much nailed how I feel about the Hitchhiker's movie... Comic here

Last day before vacation, and we're doing that last minute stuff, specifically laundry and packing. Fuuuuuun...

If you aren't using Firefox, shame. Go here now! If you have FireFox, you know about extensions. There is an Abe Vigoda status. Normally, it says alive. Today, we get "reading Alien Loves Predator". I had to find out more, and now I've added the feed to my friends list. =)

Uhm.... yeah, I got nothing. See you all in a week!

Thoughtful (Bester)
Every morning that we have the TV on getting ready for work, there seems to be an advertisement for some TV show that has <TV Preview Voice>celebrities without makeup</TVPV>.

Erm... so?

Have we entered the phase of our collective existance where watching pictures of allegedy famous people not wearing makeup is really THAT popular? I mean, fer cryin' out loud, Fox had a whole special on it last week, and it seems to be a constant segment on ET if the ads are to be believed. *sigh*

In other news, I've gotten my first pop-under while using Firefox. The punks. I've been enjoying not having all these dratted ads and popups. UserFriendly has had a good little series about this, starting here.
