Air conditioning fixed! Yah. So here's the deal wtih that - it wasn't the air conditioner. Apparently one of the wires leading to the circuit breakers was loose, which caused a great deal of heat. This in turn resulted, not in the circuit breaker tripping, but kinda melting and failing. This could have been very bad, resulting in a fire. I feel very fortunate that we found this and fixed it before something more major than having no cool air happened.

In other news, Jen and I are going out into the desert tomorrow. We're going to have lunch out at the A&W Restaurant. Then we're off to the outlet stores in Cabazon to see what kind of trouble we can get into. From there, we go to Morongo Casino Resort & Spa for some goofing off and some food. All of this is because we are seeing Terry Fator there.

Do you have a remarkable phobia? Does your phobia have a large impact on your life?

Not sure it's remarkable, but I am afraid of the left most lane on a flyover bridge when driving.

So Comic-Con is this weekend, and there have already been a few interesting things that have come out. I mentioned "Flash: Rebirth" earlier. I also mentioned the new Boom! comics. Image made their announcement regarding Image United. I haven't really heard anything of note on Marvel yet. Oh, and there will be more Dr. Horrible. But, honestly, tomorrow is the BIG day. And I won't be around to know anything that's going on. Maybe I should add NewsaramaBlog to my Twitter following so I can read from the phone. Looks like they aren't really reporting things though, so maybe not.

Sirius and XM have merger approval. Wonder when I will be able to use my XM subscription to get my music via Sonos, which currently allows Sirius radio.

No one reading this will care, but I need to find out how to get my signature on the petition to recall Bill Postmus, who is currently the Assessor for the County of San Bernardino.

So that's what spending $4,500 feels like.

So much for my tax return, extra paycheck for March, and part of my bonus... At least we get points on the credit card for this. So now that we have the points taken out for our flight in May, we *still* have enough points for two more contental US flights. Next year, I think we're going east again. Not sure. Don't care much right now, since, ya know, we need to save up again...

Looks like Jen and I are going to be going to Vegas with a free room at a popular strip hotel. (No, [info]jelly_doughnut and [info]jumbach, it's not where we met/ate. Either place.) Probably be coming back on July 4, long before any fireworks, because I hate traffic. And no, [info]msmcfeeley, I won't lose my cell.

Speaking of which, [info]msmcfeeley, have you ever won off this Blingo thing? I've been there for two months and have gotten nothing, and don't know if I'm wasting my time...

I know that it's some 80 some degrees outside still, but my feet are cold. Of course, I don't have any shoes or socks on, and am inside in a nicely air conditioned house.

Just bought Jen and her mother tickets to the return of The Lion King at the Pantages Theater. Second row, center. Unbelievable... It's good to be on a pre-order email list.

I have a whole shelf of books that I have yet to read, and yet feel compelled to buy more. Is that wrong?

The California primary elections are tomorrow, and I can't wait until 8 pm when I won't have to see Phil Angelides and Steve Westly for a while. Of course, the cycle then goes into a frenzy with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom McClintock, and others joining the frey.

I'm pondering doing some home automation and whatnot with the house. I may just go with remote controls for the lighting and shades upstairs, or I may do something more. I'm reading up on some things like X10 (the protocol, not the irritating pop-up and pop-under purveyors), and have to address a moral issue. Namely, should I get some X10 protocol equipment from X10.com (that irritating pop-up and pop-under purveyor mentioned earlier) which would further support their horrible advertising schemes? Ugh. Maybe I'll just stick with remote control switches...

You'll remember the other day I posted a picture of the sunrise, with a lament about the wires in the picture? Well, [info]jaydlewis performed his wonders, and now I have a picture without the various cables.

Again, Jay, thanks!
WTF?
So in late June, I ordered a nice table and chair set for the patio which goes well with everything we have. After some foul-ups with them not calling me to arrange delivery, I arranged for the delivery today of this from noon to five.

At 9 this morning, the delivery guy gets here. Uhm, okay, fine. So he dumps off one box, about 80 pounds. Erm... so I ask where the rest is, to which the reply was "That's all I have." I call their dispatch office to see if, maybe, there will be a package delivered at another time. "No. We have received one package which you just got delivered. You need to call the vendor."

...

So thankfully target.com lists a phone number. I call and confirm that, indeed, they sent only one package of chairs, but no table. Now they are going to resend the whole set which I will *again* have to arrange for delivery. And further, they only do this as a set, so I have to refuse the second set of chairs when get delivered just so I can get the table.
