15th-Apr-2008 09:34 pm - I've got a bad feeling about this...
Hiding / pensive (Satchel)
This morning I woke up with a strange feeling on the right side of my mouth. The best way I can describe it is the feeling like I was recouping from a Novocain shot. However, I didn't have a shot, and this feeling stayed with me all day. There is *no* visual impairment, and I am *not* slurring my speech. It is just this strange feeling. I did go to work, and nothing changed. I discussed this on the train, and people were freaking me out talking about Bell's Palsy. When I got home, Jen said we were going to the doctor...

It's not Bell's Palsy but cranial neuritis. Basically one of my cranial nerves is likely inflamed, probably due to a viral infection. It is affecting my feeling but is not inhibiting motion. My doctor wanted to give me a day or two off but it isn't necessary. I now have an anti-virus (ha!) and anti-inflammatory to take for the next 10 days.

The feeling will, unfortunately, not go away like it came. No, it will just gradually fade away...

In other news, we now have our Chicago plane tickets via our credit card points. Waiting for a call back from the place we want to stay at to book those reservations. Things are coming together...

Me
Went to bed Monday night feeling just fine. In the middle of the night, I woke up with a strangeness in my stomach. I laid in bed for a bit, trying to figure out what, if anything, I should do about this. I decided to get up to use the restroom. Somewhere between the bed and the restroom, gravity failed between my stomach and my mouth. Ugh. First time in a long time that I've vomited. Afterwards I couldn't get comfortable to go back to sleep. Needless to say, I didn't go to work yesterday.

The whole day was on and off sleeping. Never finished watching anything I played off TiVo. Took me something like four hours to do security bulletin evaluations, and there were only two of them. I ate four bites of toast, a fruit cup, and about three spoons of soup. This is not the kind of weight loss I need, ya know?

Anyway, today I woke up about 9. Another day of not going to work. Grr. Already today I've had a piece of toast (the full piece!) and fruit cup. I've stayed awake all day, and generally am better, but not great. Hopefully I can get back to work tomorrow, especially since I have the day off Friday to go to Vegas for Billy Joel.

For the first time in over two years, my Message Waiting light on my work phone is not blinking. The light blinks when you have a voice mail. And for the past two plus years, I have been intentionally skipping1 a voice mail from a friend2 who left me her new cell phone number3. I’m such a bad friend that I haven’t called her, but friend enough that I did keep the message. For over two years.

It’s interesting to note that you can do some things like listen to your newest voice mail first4 on some systems. Of course, finding out things like this have led to my demise in this arena.

Uhm, yeah. Oops. I don’t know why, but I find it easier to update my LiveJournal, the bunch of people I know through here or other online places know what’s going on in my life than updating people I met through face to face contact. Heck, I have to remind myself to call my parents at times, because otherwise, I just won’t. Right now, I owe two of my closest friends from high school5 an update, since it’s been about a year since I last communicated with them.

Oh, and ain’t I a stinker for including footnotes6 and including people’s names? The names are in case someone does a vanity check and find the journal. Hey, it’s happened before!7

Ya know, David Paymer is an entirely underrated, excellent actor.

Oh, and "Studio 60" got a pickup for at least three more episodes beyond the original 13.

Went into work yesterday, and went home on the 11:20 train. These allergies are going to be the death of me yet.

Don't forget to change your clocks if relevant.

MS Walk
So yesterday night, when Jen came home, she looked at how swollen my ankle still was and announced that we were going to the doctor.

The good news is that I didn't break anything. The bad news is that I did severely sprain my ankle, and am now in a splint (which is more like a half cast so I don't know why they call it a split). I have to keep my leg elevated and ice it still, and I have crutches to get around with.

Oh joy.

And yes, I'm using this icon for ironic iconic purposes.

Yesterday, while (literally) running across the street to get to the train, I stepped into a pothole and spranged my ankle. Pain, agony, etc.

Jen had a fairly bad day yesterday. Her students were asking stupid all day, and her standardized testing starts tomorrow. Since everything she does is based on these tests, she's incredibly stressed out. There is also a teacher friend of hers who is having some real issues right now with family issues, and Jen is just ... stressed.

I've had Semagic up all day, and expected to have more to say, but ... nope. All this for one day. Pretty sad, no?

ow.
