Air conditioning fixed! Yah. So here's the deal wtih that - it wasn't the air conditioner. Apparently one of the wires leading to the circuit breakers was loose, which caused a great deal of heat. This in turn resulted, not in the circuit breaker tripping, but kinda melting and failing. This could have been very bad, resulting in a fire. I feel very fortunate that we found this and fixed it before something more major than having no cool air happened.

In other news, Jen and I are going out into the desert tomorrow. We're going to have lunch out at the A&W Restaurant. Then we're off to the outlet stores in Cabazon to see what kind of trouble we can get into. From there, we go to Morongo Casino Resort & Spa for some goofing off and some food. All of this is because we are seeing Terry Fator there.

Do you have a remarkable phobia? Does your phobia have a large impact on your life?

Not sure it's remarkable, but I am afraid of the left most lane on a flyover bridge when driving.

So Comic-Con is this weekend, and there have already been a few interesting things that have come out. I mentioned "Flash: Rebirth" earlier. I also mentioned the new Boom! comics. Image made their announcement regarding Image United. I haven't really heard anything of note on Marvel yet. Oh, and there will be more Dr. Horrible. But, honestly, tomorrow is the BIG day. And I won't be around to know anything that's going on. Maybe I should add NewsaramaBlog to my Twitter following so I can read from the phone. Looks like they aren't really reporting things though, so maybe not.

Sirius and XM have merger approval. Wonder when I will be able to use my XM subscription to get my music via Sonos, which currently allows Sirius radio.

No one reading this will care, but I need to find out how to get my signature on the petition to recall Bill Postmus, who is currently the Assessor for the County of San Bernardino.

I never have understood how someone can, having publically argued with a person and defiled their character for the express interest of furthering themselves, turn right around and embrace and support the very person they were arguing and defiling, acting as if nothing every happened.

Yes, I'm watching the Clinton droning speech, but this isn't just an issue with her. We've seen this time and time again with all politicians for both parties.

Completely unrelated, Jim McKay has passed.

In response to this article, I just want to say that it takes more than just being a female or an African American to be President of the United States. It takes knowledge, strategy, honesty, courage, and a whole list of other things that I can't even begin to list. It's not just a race or gender thing, and I question the logic of anyone who thinks that the only qualification for a person to be President of the United States is either gender or race.

Can someone explain to me why we can't have a national presidental primary election day where all states vote versus all the states pushing theirs earlier to one-up each other and "matter more"?

While we're at it, can someone explain why a flat tax won't work too?

And I'm being totally serious with these questions. If you can answer them in a non-partisan manner, I would really appreciate the response.

Okay, so I have a question relating to an ad for a California proposition. This question is not about political leaning or whatnot, but a question about understanding and my lack of it. The ad in question can be seen the Yes on 87 website, but here's a transcript which I am using as a basis of my question.

"The oil companies are making us pay. They made $78 billion last year. They pay billions in drilling fees to Texas, but not to Californians. It's time for them to pay their fair share. Yes on 87. Make oil companies pay, and make it illegal to pass to cost to us. Yes on 87. For Cleaner Energy."

Now the question -- I'm really having a hard time fitting that last statement with the whole rest of the ad. How does "making the oil companies pay" relate to "cleaner energy"?

Looks like Jen and I are going to be going to Vegas with a free room at a popular strip hotel. (No, [info]jelly_doughnut and [info]jumbach, it's not where we met/ate. Either place.) Probably be coming back on July 4, long before any fireworks, because I hate traffic. And no, [info]msmcfeeley, I won't lose my cell.

Speaking of which, [info]msmcfeeley, have you ever won off this Blingo thing? I've been there for two months and have gotten nothing, and don't know if I'm wasting my time...

I know that it's some 80 some degrees outside still, but my feet are cold. Of course, I don't have any shoes or socks on, and am inside in a nicely air conditioned house.

Just bought Jen and her mother tickets to the return of The Lion King at the Pantages Theater. Second row, center. Unbelievable... It's good to be on a pre-order email list.

I have a whole shelf of books that I have yet to read, and yet feel compelled to buy more. Is that wrong?

The California primary elections are tomorrow, and I can't wait until 8 pm when I won't have to see Phil Angelides and Steve Westly for a while. Of course, the cycle then goes into a frenzy with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom McClintock, and others joining the frey.

I'm pondering doing some home automation and whatnot with the house. I may just go with remote controls for the lighting and shades upstairs, or I may do something more. I'm reading up on some things like X10 (the protocol, not the irritating pop-up and pop-under purveyors), and have to address a moral issue. Namely, should I get some X10 protocol equipment from X10.com (that irritating pop-up and pop-under purveyor mentioned earlier) which would further support their horrible advertising schemes? Ugh. Maybe I'll just stick with remote control switches...

The amoralistic side of me says that Bush released the news that 30,000 Iraqis have been killed today because he knew the news would be trumped by whatever Arnold decided with Tookie Williams, turning today instantly into a "Take out the trash day"
