Cos and effect

Bill Cosby has been, and continues to be, my idol... This further cements it.

The fact of the matter, though, it that this isn't a racial thing, or an economic thing. Parents who don't get involved with their kids schooling, and who continue to have inadequate skills, instill this behaviour to their children. There are many other stores that flip this around -- parents who may not be that educated, who struggle in their blue collar job, but insist their kids do better than themselves. They encourage their kids, get involved with the schooling, etc. Those kids generally end up giving so much back to the community...

*sigh* Parent involvement and support. If it ain't there, then what can truly be expected?

Any time Bill speaks about educational issues, I take note. Normally I dismiss "celebrity" opinions or their random diatribes as bunk, but Bill has a PhD in Education, so I weigh his words with other heavy hitters in that field.

Shaw told the crowd that most people on welfare are not African-American

Because there are four times as many people of other races in the U.S. By percentage, they're way out in front.

and many of the problems his organization has addressed in the black community were not self-inflicted.

All the ones Cosby didn't talk about.

whateva, man!

did you get your scope question resolved?

Uhm... no. =) I already have 9 of the shows figured out. Trying to figure out which I will put in for the tenth, which could end up negating the scope question to begin with.

I'll figure it out. Never ye mind...
