Advance virus warning

Security researchers say JPEG virus imminent

Yes, because of a flaw in how Microsoft interprets JPEG files, they can now be used as a vector for viruses.  Folks, do yourself and the Internet community a favor and visit Windows Update and Office Update to ensure that you are up to date with the current patches.  On this one, even if you had Automatic Updates enabled, you would still miss all of the Office patches and would be vulnerable!

EDIT: Yes, even you slackers on Windows 95 and you bleeding edge XP SP2 people need to read the security bulletin MS04-028 to see what is impacted.

Fraskin' Microsoft...

a flaw in how Microsoft interprets...

Isn't that redundant?

Well, the idiot Windoze IT folks at my new company are just now rolling MS04-024. (I've been there only 3 days, and I already know they are idiots.) And I probably won't have administrator access to my new laptop, which will probably have W2KP on it.

Dear Dell - Please do not install w2KP on the new laptop.

When I get home, I'll make sure we're up to date...
