Friday Five

1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not? (Doesn't this count as three questions?) I am currently a Infrastructure Technologist in the Desktop and Server Engineering group. I never really had a plan of what I wanted to do in life. I just follow the opportunies in the areas that I feel are interesting.

2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be? Hey, I said this in my first 100 list! This thing cheats! Anyway, I'd be a radio personality at an 80's station.

3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices? My dad worked for Western Electric / AT&T / Lucent Technologies as a telephone swtich installer. These are rather large machines (4ESS) in the Central Office that routes your telephone calls (and now your data). He is retired as of July 1, 2002. My mom, for the time that she worked, started as a teller at Security Pacific National Bank and ended up as the head bookkeeper for her branch. She single-handedly dealt with the Stater Bros. account (large local grocery store in the Inland Empire). Neither jobs really influenced my career choice.

4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family? No.

5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why? There are many many tough jobs. Many deal with the rude public, like working in a phone center where the only reason to call is if you have something wrong. Teaching ain't all it's cracked up to be, and neither is fast food. Don't know of an easy job....
