Top 10

I snarfed this idea from quiz_master_man's journal. He'll sue me, I'm sure...  This might not work if people start performing net searches instead of guessing.

The US Social Security Administration occasionally publishes a brief study on the distribution of given names of Social Security holders. The last published survery was in 2003. Given that....

What were the top 10 most popular names for females on the 2003 report? I'll put up the list as they are guessed, and will site my source after completion.

It really won't work if one of us copies the list directly from a book his company publishes, 50,001 Best Baby Names.

So I'll go all Jim Peck on you and say at least one of you is wrong.

Hmmm... yeah, I'm thinking that would definitely not be in the spirit of the game so much...

I'm trying to think if I know who ended up with that little bit of memoriabilia from the show... I think one of the LA contingent did, but can't recall which one now. *shrug*

Caitlin, Christine, Michelle, Amber, Morgan...

No on all of them.

I also want to mention this note that names are not edited or grouped together. In particular, different spellings of similar names are not combined. For example, the names Kaitlin, Kaitlyn, Kaitlynn, Katelin, Katelyn, Katelynn, and Katlyn are considered separate names and each has its own rank.

...and none of them were in the top 10. Maybe they were too diluted?

If Kayla isn't in the top ten, I'll eat me' hat.

And the fad is (of course) to spell the name however the A-G-Double-Hockey-Sticks (say it out loud and it sounds the same) you feel like. I have a theory on childrens names, that I'll spell out one day, maybe.

5 spots are open. I'll add Jennifer, Amanda, Mary (even though I'm pretty sure it's dropped substantially in recent years) and Michelle, even though "Michele" as an alternate probably dilutes the pool so to speak.

Great question.

Obviously I guessed without reading the rest of the comments, although I'm still all in on "Kayla."
