TV talk

For those that care, the network upfronts are going on this week, and an easy way to track what's going on is available.

Items of personal note so far:
NBC: West Wing is renewed, but moving to Sunday at 8. I anticipate this to be the last season of the show. Wihle teppanyaki and few of my other friends will disagree, I see no use for The Office having been renewed. And I wonder if icaleb still has a job on Biggest Loser? No new shows sound that intriguing to me.
ABC: ABC is proving to be a strong contender on Sunday nights still. Not sure about moving Lost to 9 pm and ditching Alias. I mean, I understand wanting to take your hits and spread them out to anchor other nights, but that was a powerful block. There's no way I can see Geena Davis as POTUS, and I wonder what Rob Lurie was thinking...
WB: zzzzzzzzzz....  Oh, wait, Jennifer Esposito? Cool.  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
Fox rumours: 24 renewed for two years. I like the show and all, but how many of these can they realisitically pump out?
CBS rumours: It's either be Joan of Arcadia or Judging Amy, but not both. Having not watched Amy, I vote Joan. I guess we'll know tomorrow for sure. And Amazing Race better bo on that schedule, dangit.
UPN rumours: Uhm... er... I got nothing. I'm guessing Veronica Mars will be renewed [EDIT: Thanks to pettitte96 for pointing out it was renewed a few weeks ago], and am very curious to see their schedule without WWE [EDIT: ...and that's still a rumour, which skykid reminded me of] and Star Trek.

I like The Office, although I'm sure the Brit version is a lot better. It makes me laugh, that lead boss dude kills me.

ABC is stupid, Alias had a decent season in a good slot so what do they do? Move it up against Survivor. Idiots. Bye bye Alias.

Agree about 24. I think they should change the name to '12' because usually the first half of the season is good, then it starts sucking about halfway in. I still watch it, but I just don't care that much now.

Survivor doesn't have the legs it once did though. For example, they LOST the ratings game on their Sunday finale against Desparate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy.

That being said, it's likely this might be the last season of Alias too... Alias just hasn't been water cooler talk, and Survivor is, despite it's weakened state. I would be interested in getting more detailed demos for the two shows to see if there is strong overlap though...

Yeah, very true. I figured it would have a tough time on Sunday. But overall Survivor is still at top 10 show even after 5 seasons or whatever it's at. Finally Alias had some strength, when paired with a good, hot show. And what do they do? Toss it out so soon. Oh well. I have no faith in any networks anyway.. they all suck. LOL

In fact, Veronica Mars was renewed a few months ago. Which is lucky for those motherfuckers over at UPN, because otherwise I would have had to kill somebody.

And I'm with you - I see no reason for the continued existence of The Office U.S. version.

Bwahaha! I missed that renewal notice - sorry 'bout that! Guess that makes two edits to my post I'll have to make, both in the UPN area. Funky.

Oops. I was going based on what I remember hearing earlier this year, and now that I think about it, a lot was quickly retracted when the rumour of UPN pulling SD! came out.

While SD! did get a two year renewal last year, it's possible that UPN will do to SD! like SciFi did to Farscape and drop the last year. A contract is a contract is a contract (but only amongst Ferengi).

If that were to happen, I'm not sure where SD! would go. While NBC is corporate sibling to USA, where Raw will shortly be, I can't see them moving two hours of programming for this. Ditto ABC, CBS, and FOX.

WB? FX? Bump TNA off of Fox Sports? *shrug* I wouldn't see the show going away, but am not sure where it would go either. I guess by the end of the week, we'll at least know about it's immediate future on UPN...

Maybe it's on USA Thursday. Maybe. I think it would do a lot better landing on the WB -- it would give WB that extra edge that they haven't had.

Now, that said, I'll say the same thing to the Iron Chef purists -- the US version is going to be what it's going to be. Granted, IC USA sucked balls... but the second season was much better. You either like the show or you don't. I'm fine with that.

That's a lot of eggs in the one basket of NBC Universal. If I were Vinnie, I'd be concerned that NBC Uni would pull a Turner / WCW / "not the direction we're heading" deal, which would screw the pooch something serious for WWE.

Speculation ... it's faaaaaaantastic!

A swerve like that would, in my mind, be awesome. The next season may suck after that, but I *love* it when a major character gets knocked off in an unexpected way...

I'd hate to have to boycott CBS and its advertisers for dropping Joan, especially since I really like TAR.

I'm happy to see Las Vegas intact.
