jelly_doughnut, since you just changed your default on your phone posts to WAV, you should check out the post on news.

Anyone else who ever dreamt of a permanent account should also see the post on news.

Caught a commercial yesterday for This is Your Life on DVD. I thought you should know.

Fracking new viruses that came out this morning has effectively spammed my rialtus.com domain to the tune of about 20 virused email messages. Punks.

June 3 is Doughnut Day. Mmmmm.... doughnuts...

Deep Throat confirmed to have been the #2 man at the FBI. Fascinating.

EDIT: Frienditto and Narcopolo are both up and running again. Great. More drah-ma ensues.

What do you think of the Microsoft Anti-Spyware program? I know it's only in Beta, but I've downloaded it and am very impressed with it.

The software was purchased by Giant Software, and still functions very much like that software. It's okay, insofar as to what anti-spyware products do. I really wish MS would get around to releasing their corporate edition, which is where I personally feel the pain. I need something that I can centrally control and manage, not a per desktop managed solution.

Also, the biggest problem that I see in this whole debacle regarding spyware is that there is no industry concensus on what constitutes spyware. If you compare this to the virus world, the antivirus vendors will share virus code so that all of them can protect their customers. There is no back end consortium for spyware, and it's hurting everyone.

Hmmm... $150/$35 per year including extra icons

= a little over four years. Think I can stay as intensely interesting as I am now for that long?

I strolled through the comments in the news post, and there are many others who are thinking the same thing about themselves. It's a tough call, because who knows what changes LJ/SA will make over this time, what technologies will change, etc. I've been lucky with my perm account purchased two years ago that I'm still around here, as are the people I interact with, and that I'm getting my monies worth.

Of course, if you are just asking if you can stay interesting, then hands down the answer is yes, without a doubt. =)

Yeah that's great. I finally get around to changing something and now they change stuff all around me. It's a conspiracy I tell you!

Is a permanent account worth $150 bucks? Will it remain permanent if El Jay is sold again? Why is the sky blue? Could this be the answer to my lack of a sci-fi icon?
Jun. 1st, 2005 03:24 pm (UTC)
Yes, the permanent account is selling for $150 this time around. Two years ago when I bought mine, it was $100.

My account remained permanent through the LJ/SA purchase, and would hope that it would continue if LJ is spun off, or SA is acquired.

The sky is blue because it has a short wavelength, allowing the light from the sun to scatter and appear blue to us.

No. You don't have a sci-fi icon because you haven't yet assimilated the right one yet.

Four down, 16 more to go....

16. Since the price of a permanent account has gone up, can we I assume that the price of a regular yearly account will too?

15. Has the yearly price ever gone up since you've been here?

14. How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

13. What other advantages does a permanent account have other than 50 user pics and invulnerability to price hikes?
Jun. 1st, 2005 10:39 pm (UTC)
16. You can assume what you want. Whether that assumption is valid or not would be another question, which I could not answer.

15. I don't think so, but I honestly haven't looked and don't remember what it was then.

14. A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood, or approximately 42.

13. At this time, that's it. When the implement new features to beta, such as the Scrapbook, permanent account have been able to try them out before anyone else as well.
