Lazy Saturday

Courtesy of msmcfeeley, you might want to check this website out. It a US Government site which will link you to the various state sites where unclaimed property is reported. I went to the CA site and am pretty sure that I'm going to have $1,300 coming back to me from escrow. An offline friend will be getting $380 back (name of friend and friend's father matched, as well as the address listed, so if they go through the process, it's gonna happen) Another has got $112.11 coming his way.

*cough*finder's fee can be no more than 10% by CA state law, and msmcfeeley'll probably want a cut of anything I get*cough*

In other news, Jen and I are looking at getting some patio furniture soon. Suprisingly, these things at Target will match what we have nicely, so if the money from above comes through, I think I know where it's going...

EDIT: Game show fandom, meet an expensive game show item.

I've considered buying that for my classroom. I've seen it online for significantly less than Tarzhay's price, as low as $280.

Congratulations on your find!

I just check out the Website. There's nothing for me but my dad has a little over $100 waiting for him. Thanks for the link.

About 5 years ago, I found $42+ from the L.A. Times which I think was a cancelled subscription from 1990. But since I'd worked for the L.A. Times at the time, I called them, got proof of employment, and applied. No problem.

After reading your post, I went back and checked several states we'd lived in (CO, GA, TX) and didn't find anything for myself and Cheri. Then I went back to California's site, and I found what I think is an old GTE deposit from when I lived in Pomona for 6 months. It was remandered in 1986, which, if GTE waited only 4 years instead of the required 7, would work out right. Unfortunately, no social or other information was recorded with it. and since it was over 20 years ago any proof I had is long gone.

But what the heck. I applied for it anyway, with a letter detailing when I'd lived in Pomona. I suppose I could always get the Cal Poly Pomona transcript for that dismal quarter.

$32+ always comes in handy.

Ugh. (I wish LJ allowed comment editing.)

To paraphrase Geddy Lee, "Thirty-two bucks is thirty-two bucks"

Side note: you went to CPP for a quarter? Does that make us something like fifth cousins three times removed or something? I graduated from Cal Borgy Pomona...

Yeah, let's say it wasn't one of my better life episodes.
