I knew it. I'm surrounded by ...

I can't believe the audacity of some people. We have a group of individuals who are company employees who issue edicts from up on high about some computer standards. This group has decided that email is in a appropriate way to communicate this - one time, with no followup. These are sometimes detailed configurations that should, by all accounts, be formally documented. Anyway, these edicts come out, and this group is expecting the edicts to be implemented immediately, with no discussion, training, documentation, or communication to the impacted people. It's that last part that gets me. They expect our outsourcer to be performing the work that is coming out in their edicts WITHOUT TELLING THEM that these edicts have come down!

I try to get in the middle, just to get information on these edicts, and no one will even tell me what these are - just that the outsourcer isn't following the edicts. It's bullpucky, and I am not standing quietly vile a group is being villified unjustly. Of course, this instantly puts me at odds with the people in the company I work for, because I'm "siding with the enemy". Many people don't like the outsourcer, and there are as many valid reasons for this as there are invalid reasons.

Anyway, I just blew up at a person for not doing his job and making me do it for him. While the concepts I said were sound, I went about it all wrong, and will be apologizing just for how I did it. The fine point of that will be lost, but oh well.

That sounds almost good enough to be a gummit job!

It's a futility - close enough.
