CBS has cancelled "Waterfront". Never heard of it? That's because they hadn't even aired an episode of the show yet! Now, mind you, it was slotted as a mid-season replacement, but still...

And what's with the missing person shows getting 13-and-outted? First NBC told "Kidnapped" to wrap up in 13 epsidoes that they would commit to, and now Fox is doing the same with "Vanished".

*AND* NBC is going to try out "Friday Night Lights" on Monday, October 30 in "Studio 60"'s time slot, all in an effort to see if they can boost ratings. "Studio 60" has a hefty penalty if they don't air at least 13 episodes, and must air Monday through Thursday night in primetime on the network. So it'll be interesting to see what happens there. Tuesday @ 10 has "Boston Legal" on ABC and, starting November 14, "3 lbs." on CBS where "Smith" vacated... Would NBC bump "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" to slot "Studio 60"? Dunno.

*AND* NBC was very pleased with "1 vs 100", ordering another 10 episodes.

first, i was totally like "who?" when you said Waterfront was cancelled. Wow, knocked out before airing.

i hope Kidnapped has some kind of revival. i think it's a good show.

i still say Amy Smart killed "Smith". I just didn't like her in that character. bad casting. i believed everyone in their roles except her.

if they touch SVU, i will cut somebody.

oh, and "1 vs 100" will go the way of "Millionaire", "Weakest Link", etc. once the hype dies down.

Re: thoughts
I think Smith killed Smith. It's very hard for nn audience to have any sort of empathy for a "bad" character like Liotta's, and there was nothing presented to the audience to make them care. *shrug*

NBC will probably over-expose 1 vs. 100 just like the promised not to do with DoND, just like NBC did with Weakest Link and ABC did with WWTBAM?. It's sadly inevitable, but a lot of that is because, frankly, they are CHEAP and therefore cash cows.

Re: thoughts
I think Smith would have had a built-in following, though, since he was playing "type". But i could be wrong.

First, they should move Friday Night Lights to Friday. The name makes folks look for it there. It will die against CSI: Miami.

Studio 60 should move to Wednesdays at 10p. They were running Dateline there last night, and Studio 60 might have a chance against CSI: NY (which I can't stand).

I'm surprised you haven't commented on the other NBC moves.

You're referring to the "1 vs 100", "Deal or No Deal", "Las Vegas" debacle? Or did I miss something? If so, most everyone on my FL knew about the game show side of this, and I called out the "Las Vegas" change a few days ago.

...and Studio 60 would probably do ok Wed. at 10pm. A lot of the problem with Studio 60 I think though is that it's on too late. I think a 9 pm slot would have been better. I was really hoping that NBC would ditch their Monday DoND, moving up Heores and Studo 60, but....

"NBC Universal will stop scheduling high-priced dramas and comedies during the 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. slot, The Wall Street Journal reported in advance of the announcement Thursday. Jeff Zucker, chief executive of NBC Universal's television group, said he'll focus on cheaper programming. Zucker told the newspaper that scripted shows cost too much given the lack of advertiser interest."

So what scripted stuff does NBC have on at 8pm?

"Friday Night Nights" was originally scheduled for Tue 8-9 pm, "30 Rock" and "Twenty Good Years" were Wednesday 8-9, and "My Name is Earl" and "The Office" anchor the former Must See TV night Thursday. "Crossing Jordan" was supposed to return Friday at 8, but I think that's not going to happen anytime soon.

But then I'd have to torrent either Heroes or Prison Break! *sniff*

I totally vote for the "moving to Wednesday" thing.

Which is why I have two TiVos with a total of three tuners.

Two TiVos w/ three tuners = too much $ for me. ;D My computer can record one show at a time and that's good enough for me. While downloading torrents all the time is somewhat annoying, it's still cheaper than a TiVo. Heh.

Oh hey, I really LIKE game shows generally. It's just the overexposure of them that I'm against. =)

You mean, like how they killed 'Millionaire' by having it on 6 nights a week and then doing those stupid celebrity versions? Yeah.
