Something for renaissancegeek to chime in on?

Federal Court Holds U.S. Currency Violates the Rights of the Blind

Basically, by printing money that all looks and feels the same, the US has violated Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. As a result, the judge has ordered the US to begin working on a solution within 30 days.

This, in my mind, is huge.

I heard this too and ok, while I understand that the blind definitely have a ton of obstacles to overcome.. um.. doesn't technically EVERY PRODUCT MADE then discriminate? Should Cheerios boxes also have braille? Postage stamps? Restaurant menus?

The big difference is that money is made by the government, whereas the other things are made by private businesses.

Postage stamps... who knows? Maybe something will come of that. I think the issue is that money is a daily requirement to get by in society, and therefore needs to be accessible to the blind.

I agree that this is going to be huge.
