blah blah blah blaaah.... blah

Sorry, just got a bad case of the blahs. It's been super quiet at work today, and I really want to go home. Not that there's much I will be doing at home, but at least it's there and not here.

Did what I needed to do today, read my LJ, fooled a bit on HSX, read my private email, found some Pocket PC software, found a copy of The Time Machine for MS Reader on said Pocket PC. Decided to post a boring note here.

The problem with today is the trains. The Metrolink system has two fairly early trains leaving LA to San Bernardino -- 3:20 and 3:50 pm. These are both three car trains, and normally that is sufficient. However, on days before extended holidays, everyone and their grandmother leaves work early. Metrolink, in their infinite wisdom, chooses NOT to add additional cars to those two trains, resulting in all three cars being standing room only out to at least Rancho Cucamonga. For those of you not savvy with the region, that's a good 1 hour, 15 train ride. That's the main reason I'm not leaving work early today -- my comfortable, six car, 4:40 pm train will be quite empty and quiet.

Is this a WinTuition question? :)

Didn't I mention that I was working there on the side?

Did I mention that this was a bad joke? Sorry if it gave the wrong impression....

I actually wish they had a LATER train; I believe the last eastbound train leaves LAUS at 8:15 or something like that, making it impossible to do much in L.A. at night without planning on missing the train! Even when we go to Universal Studios, it ROYALLY SUCKS to have to leave the park by 7:15 to ensure making it to the train on time via the Red Line. I think they'd do well with a 10:30 or so train, at least on Fri and Sat nights. I'm down in Redlands about once a year (next time will be in April, BTW) and we always take MetroLink into L.A. when we do stuff there.

(I know that Foothill Transit 480 runs out to SB Co., but I'm not spending 3 hours on a bus at midnight when I'm tired and grouchy after a long day! :-) But it IS a contingency plan for me if we ever DO miss that last ML train.

Metrolink schedule
Actually, the last San Berdoo train out of LAUS is 8:50ish, but I agree with what you are talking about. Last year we went to UniStudios, and had to leave earlier than I wanted just to catch the last train back.

But then again, I don't know the logistics of running these trains on a weird sched, but I know that the last train out is virtually empty...
