TV tonight

So I decided to take a chance again and watched two shows that several people on my friends list rave about -- "The Office" and "Scrubs".

Remind me again why they are considered funny? I just don't see it.

See, msmcfeeley knows because, deep down inside, she's a closet Jim watcher...

"It's ok, go back to 'According to Jim' and 'America's Funniest Home Videos' :D"

Euw. I think not! Now "How I Met Your Mother"... that's a different story.

No, 'How' is supposed to be entertaining and mildy funny.. whereas 'Jim'.. not so much. Thus me recommending 'Jim' to you since you don't 'get' good comedy :D

Okay, again with the Ouch! And still, nothing to explain why either show is funny...

Scrubs.. well.. it's weird. But it amuses me. I like Zach, that's probably half of it for me. I don't really like that type of slapstick-y humor as much.. so it's not like my FAVORITE show or anything.. but yeah, it's clever.

Office.. well.. I dunno, I've only worked in a few offices and it seems to fit the scenario perfectly. haha the humor is dry.. subtle.. I like the people 'talking to the camera' documentary-style....the characters are all distinctive and amusing, the writing is stellar. Some of the cast are also writers and it shows. Sometimes just the LOOK that someone gives the camera makes the whole joke funnier. Seriously, I think if you started at the beginning.. got to know the individuals you'd maybe 'get it'. I dunno, it just does it for me.

Ouch. That hurt!

It hurts more that I know what show you are talking about without having, thankfully, seen a single episode...

There's got to be something there for those shows to still be on the air, but I just don't get it... *shrug* Like I need more TV to watch anyway.

I tried to watch Scrubs once or twice but couldn't make it through an episode.

Never tried to sit through The Office. Eh. From what I hear about it I don't think it's my thing.

I made it through both episodes, and don't think I cracked a smile once. *shrug*

I don't think Scrubs is funny.

The Office took me a minute to get into, but now it's friggin harlarious!

Okay, but *why* is "The Office" friggin harlarious? I don't get it.

you have to get to know the characters first, then it gets funny. it's not the outward jokes, but more of their subtle mannerisms.

I like the original UK version of "The Office".

Although I like Steven Carrell, I'm not so fond of the US version.
