Were the DST changes for naught?

Reuters had an interesting article posted April 2 that basically said changing DST to begin three weeks early did nothing except cause support people to deal with the new DST rules. The effective energy savings was insignificant.

Yeah. Color me pleased. Of course, this isn’t the official Department of Energy study, and we don’t have official word on what this means for future years, but sheesch… All this work we did for NOTHING!

I suspect they might find greater impact at the end of the cycle as the days shorten, but maybe not. To be honest, I have a hunch the energy saving from DST all summer is negligible. But then what do I know? I never use lights...
