*New programs in CAPS (with the exception of "ER")
8-9 p.m. "Deal or No Deal"
9-10 p.m. "Heroes" - with six extra "Heroes: Origins" episodes, somewhere in there...
10-11 p.m. "JOURNEYMAN" - Voyagers! and Quantum Leap combined, wherein a bloke is torn back in time to parts of his own life in an attempt to "fix" it... or is he?
8-9 p.m. "The Biggest Loser" - now with 100% less Caroline Rhea, as Alison Sweeney steps into the host slot.
9-10 p.m. "CHUCK" - Enemy of the State as a comedy. Chuck is a geek gets an email, and now everyone is out get
10-11 p.m. "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"
8-9 p.m. "Deal or No Deal" - But we're not going to overextend the franchise...
9-10 p.m. "BIONIC WOMAN" - Yeah, I said Bionic Woman. Remember when Sci-Fi's Battlestar Galactica was announced as a reinvisioning of the classic series, using the names and some of the basic information, but being totally different. NBC is now doing that with Bionic Woman, where Jaime Summers was a bartender in a bad car accident. And look, there's Starbuck (the female one) as "the first Bionic Woman". Exec Prod is David Eick from ... oh lookee there, another Battlestar person. No spronging sound effects...
10-11 p.m. "LIFE" - A cop is convicted of murder and sentenced to life. The case is reopened and he's suddenly not guilty. So he gets his police job back (?!?!?) and has a different perspective on the cop story and life. The end of the preview said it best -- "that's what I don't understand..."
8-8:30 p.m. "My Name Is Earl" - a total of 25 episodes, up from 22.
8:30-9 p.m. "30 Rock" - Okay, I for one am still bitter this survived and Studio 60 didn't, but moving on...
9-9:30 p.m. "The Office" - also 25 episodes, and 5 will be one hour long
9:30-10 p.m. "Scrubs" - possibly only 18 episodes, courtesy of the five one hour Office episodes...
10-11 p.m. "ER" - This show won't die!
8-9 p.m. "1 vs 100"/"THE SINGING BEE" - Accurately sing the lyrics to popular songs to win. From The Gurin Company. I think I already know I'm ineligible. (Scary, huh?)
9-10 p.m. "Las Vegas" - James Caan out, Tom Selleck in.
10-11 p.m. "Friday Night Lights" - They actually moved it to Friday. Shame that means a lot less viewers for this show.
8-9 p.m. "Dateline NBC"
9-11 p.m. Drama Series Encores - read: we don't want to pay for anything that no one will watch anyway, especially with a strike looming...
SUNDAY (Fall 2007)
7-8 p.m. "Football Night in America"
8-11 p.m. "NBC Sunday Night Football"
SUNDAY (January 2008)
7-8 p.m. "Dateline NBC"
8-9 p.m. "Law & Order"
9-10 p.m. "Medium"
10-11 p.m. "LIPSTICK JUNGLE" - Brooke Shields, Kim Raver, and Lindsay Price in a show set in NY and Exec Prod'd by Candace Bushnell. Good thing that they have a lead in from Desperate Housewives. Oh, that's on another network though... oh...
Midseason shows: BABY BORROWERS (teenagers are raising kids from infants, toddlers, all the way through senior citizens), Law & Order: Criminal Intent, THE IT CROWD (A group of IT workers deals with the daily humiliations of their jobs and a new, tech-averse boss. Uhm... no), WORLD MOVES (A dance version of American Idol?)
Canceled shows: 20 Good Years, Andy Barker, PI, The Black Donnellys, Crossing Jordan, Grease: You're the One That I Want, Identity, Kidnapped, Law & Order: Criminal Intent*, Raines, The Real Wedding Crashers, Studio ... *sniff* ... 60 on the Sunset Strip *sniff*, Thank God You're Here
*L&O: CI is going to the USA Network. Love corporate synergy!
My take - Well, I'm not impressed. I don't see this lineup as really helping NBC get out of fourth place. Journeyman is going to be slaughtered by CSI Miami. Chuck is an hour long comedy that will probably wear out it's welcome quickly. Bionic Woman will either be the next BSG or be the laughing stock of the season. Life, well, doesn't look good. And while I H-A-T-E that Studio 60 is being canceled, I understand because of the costs associated and ratings. Dang it.
