Why we went there: This little place is tucked in the corner of the Stater Bros. shopping center, where both a great Greek and Vietnamese restaurant are also located. Figuring that we've tried two of the three places, and given that neither of us wanted Christmas leftovers, Jen and I intrepidly went to Jarritos Mexican Restaurant.

Food: We purchased the enchilada combination plate (1 chicken, 1 cheese, both with red sauce) and chicken quesadilla plate along with 2 sodas. Both plates came with rice and beans. The total came to around $20. The enchilada plate was smoking hot with cheesey lava. There was, however, no taste to either meal. The guacamole that came with the quesadilla was freshly made, but with unripe avocados. The chicken used for both the quesadilla and the enchilada was very bland, as was the red sauce. In total, the meal was completely forgettable.

Ambiance: The ambience is quaint, with vibrant colored walls and old clay masks hanging on the walls. There was plenty of room with only one other couple dining there at the time. There was music, but it wasn't overpowering, nor were the two TVs with the hockey game.

Service: There was one waitress who took our order and checked on us a few times. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad.

Overall rating: 1/5. The food was too forgettable to make us return.

There's a nice Mexican place on Riverside Dr. in Rialto we went to a few years ago, but I can't remember the name of it. If I recall, it is part of a small chain.

No, not El Pollo Loco.

El Pollo Loco... heh....

There's El Kiosko which my parents like. Not a chain, but small.

I don't think that was it.

For the life of me, I can't remember the name of it after looking in the online yellow pages. Maybe it no longer exists.

As I recall, it was just north of the railroad tracks on the northeast corner of an intersection: it may have an address on the other street.

Cuca's probably. It is a small chain with a place by where Jen works as well.

I think that might be it. IIRC, the chain had another location in Redlands, and for some reason we couldn't go to that one so we went to the Rialtus one instead. Looking at the yellow pages again, I see there is a Cuca's in Redlands, and, reading the reviews of the Rialto location, that seems to jive with my memory.

This was 2003, so it's been a few years.

"we went to the Rialtus one instead. "

BWAHAHAHA.... Yes, I think we have figured it out.

Heh heh--saw that but decided to let it go.

I remember posting about the restaurant and responding to your comment. Right after TAR, I'll have to go back to my journal entries of early late April/early May 2003 and see what I can find.

Indeed it was. Discussed here. Looks like my recollection of the food is better than it actually was, as I gave it a tepid review.
