Catching up

I've just read 200 messages from my friends list here on LJ. Wow -- you guys have been busy of the last few days! I've got a bit to write, so I'll hide it behind the cut tag...

Christmas was really nice. Because we have the "big house," Jen and I host Christmas over here, this year with her parents, my parents, my grandmother, nephew, brother-in-law (Raul), and his new girlfriend. As I have mentioned previously, my sister and my brother-in-law are divorces, and you notice who was invited over. Anyway, this was the first time for the family to meet Monica, Raul's SO, and she fits right in. I don't think I've ever seen Raul so happy, and she wasn't shy about their feelings for each other. All in all, a good time had by all.

This year, Jen and I got both sets of parents 40 hour TiVos. Both of the fathers have been drooling over my Sony TiVo (Series 1) since I got it, and with a rebate the price of the low model was doable. Of course, this also doubles as next year's birthday present for both of them as well... I don't think I've ever seen both of these men absolutely flabber-ghasted like I did that day. However, this also meant that I needed to go to both houses and set up said TiVos. Dealing with my parents on 12/27 wasn't horrible, because my dad got a new switch box that really helped out a bit. Training them was ... an adventure. The next day (12/28), we went to Jen's parents house which was an adventure of it's own due to that setup. But I got through both of them in 8 hours only... each...

The day immediately following Christmas, I went up to the Casa de Hamburg, soon to be sold. Brian Hamburg is out from San Antonio, TX and we were able to meet to catch up on times. I miss him terribly since his move two years ago, but he's happier in San Antonio so good on him. He's a really nice guy, and if you ever get a chance to meet him, make those arrangements.

The last few days, I have been having an absolute horrible time sleeping. Granted, with all the stuff that has been going on (as listed above), I haven't been getting home until about 11 pm. But I've been waking up at about 4 am every morning after having some rather bizarre dreams. One of these dreams prompted me to get out of bed at that ungodly hour of the morning and write a will. I'm pretty sure that something like this would not stand up in court, especially since there was no one to witness any of it, but it helped me out mentally. It also brought to life that I do need to get a lawyer and get a realwill created. Hopefully, tonight I can get a good night's sleep...

As I wrote in an earlier entry, Jen lost the garnet ring that I gave her last Christmas, and was the ring which I proposed to her with. She was (is) horribly broken up about it, but I did something to lessen the pain. The next day, I went to the same place I've bought all her rings (Davis Jewelers in Upland) and got her another garnet ring for her on Christmas. The rock itself is a bit larger, and there are two little diamond chips on the side. She was very pleasantly surprised. Damn I'm going to make a good future husband. =)

The newest insult that I received about my driving. Some guy thought I cut him off because he was on my right and tried to squeeze in front of me when the street went from one lane to two lanes back to one lane (median crossing). He was behind me as I came up to the stop sign shortly after this. He leaned out of the window if his car and spit on the back of my car! Not only did this punk kid do this once, but he did this TWICE! This is the future of America, and I'm scared!

I've still got quite a few things to do before I go back to work on Thursday. I need to get a good Visa credit card for Jen so she can close her credit union account, plan and purchase the honeymoon trip, load up my new shed that I got for Christmas, organize the garage so that we can fit two cars in there, organize the closet in the living room, organize my office, get a hotel room for New Year's Day, do grocery shopping, weed and mow the front yard, close my Charles Schwab account and open a stock account at my credit union, go to the movies to see "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" and "Star Trek: Nemesis", and go to a New Year's gathering. Maybe I don't need sleep after all...

And finally, the cat got a few little small tribbles made of rabbit fur for Christmas, which we have seen throughout the house now. Nice that she likes them!

Brian's in Austin, though...or did he move? I haven't seen him since that game night we did...man, a loooong time ago.

I stand corrected. I kept telling him he was in SA when talking with him too, and he kept correcting me. =)

Ah. . . I was going to pick a nit and say the expression is "spitten image," not "spitting image," but then I actually READ the link and saw you were making a play on words. So, you're off the hook. I know you like wordplay (esp. when you consider that your handle is an anagram for "rituals") so now I see the humor. Was it on Euclid Ave. by any chance? I see that a lot along there.

Even so, that guy's a moron. Too bad stupidity alone doesn't disqualify one from driving.

While my user name is an anagram of rituals, that's not what it stands for. And yes, the pun was definitely intended. =)

If stupidity was a disqualification from driving, there would be no traffic. And yes, that was Euclid, specifically Euclid and 7th in Upland/Ontario.
