It's aliiiiiive!

So last Thursday, after I made my post, I did go to weaknees.com and bought my 300 hour replacement for TiVo. Mind you, that was like 2:30 pm. It arrived at my house via FedEx the next day. Jen and I have been steadily watching things on the ol' 30 hours we had, and today, I sat down and did the upgrade.

Wow...

I went from 30 hours at Basic Quality (9 something hours at Best Quality) to 298 hrs, 50 minutes at Basic Quality (81 hrs, 56 minutes at Best Quality). All of this without losing my Lifetime Subscription. This is a serious w00t! It's currently processing the guide data, and we should be back in business later today with everything reprogrammed.

lambertman, I know you were wondering about the ease of doing this. I'll say this. If you are comfortable dealing with the innerds of a computer, this is no different. The good people at weaknees.com do the "hard part" by getting the TiVo software on the hard drives. The rest is a cakewalk.

Okay, something is funky with our web services at work, and I gotta work on it. See ya.

w00t!
I didn't realize you were only working with a 30-hour model. 298 5/6 hours is definitely better. :)

I looked at the site and apparently, the best I could upgrade to is the 145-hour model; the other ones don't seem to list "TiVo Series 2" as an option. But, that's in the future. We're keeping ours somewhat clear so far, assuming I don't get lazy on all my daily shows: all 3 B&WOs, Dick van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Trivia Trap (just until that celebrity week airs), H^2, Pyramid, Pardon the Interruption, Sweep, MG '74, and the first half of Letterman. Oh, and Christa's got two hourlong shows of her own.

Damn, maybe I *should* get that upgrade :)

Re: w00t!
You've got ... what, the 80 hr model? I find it hard to believe that they can't upgrade that to something at least as comparable to the 300 hrs. Maybe there is only one hard drive space in there, which would seriously suck!
