Of course, charities, surveys, and calls from politicians are exempt. (Charities make up about 30-40 percent of our solicitor calls.) Still, it'll be nice to get the credit card and newspaper subscription solicitors away from us.

I'd rather see an "opt-in" list, where everyone is out by default. That way, lonely people who actually like to talk to salemen can do so, and the rest of us get left alone.

I agree, but don't think that law would ever pass. Besides, we'd then get opt-ins hidden in many other things, like the license agreement to AOL, etc. just like it is for spam on email.

Bush gets one brownie point.
I'm all for it; unlike in Wheaton, us Rockfordians get telemarketers up the yin-yang, and I'll be happy not to have to listen to them anymore.

At the same time, just because it's a law doesn't mean that some companies will stray. Still, Happy^2 Joy^2!
