Weekend short takes

SARS Krispy Kreme alert!

This should amuse the females on my friends list... I never knew there was so much to be concerned with. Between this and this, my eyes have been opened.

*gasp* Aaron Sorkin and Tommy Schlamme are leaving The West Wing. I realize that Sorkin hasn't created many stories in the last season and half, but he's written practically every episode. I can't recall the last time Schlamme directed an episode. It's not a show killer like David E. Kelley leaving any of his shows, Josh Weadon leaving Buffy, or jms leaving Babylon 5, but I think The West Wing is sliding towards a cancellation soon...

Anyone heard of a guy by the name of William/Bill Putnam by any chance?

Jen's stressing me out, because she keeps changing the Saturday ceremony every five minutes. I've asked to figure out exactly what she wants, put it in writing and STICK TO IT. She's still working on that...

If you haven't seen it yet, and have access to BBC America, check out Coupling. It's like Friends meets Sex and the City and is just restarting the cycle on BBCA. Fun-knee!

Also, Now and Again is restarting it's cycle on Sci-Fi. Another quality show pulled before it's time, but it allows Dennis Haysbert to join 24 so it's not all bad.

There's a LJ mood called predatory?!?!? Egads.

Farscape got screwed. No doubt in my mind on that... And all I'm saying is that WB needs to release TWW on DVD region 1 sometime close to now. =) It's taken too long for them to enter the realm of releasing series to DVD, as they are just now doing with things like B5 and Friends.

Jen settled down a bit last night after a bit of eye wetting. We're on track again. *whew* Thought there for a second that she was going over the deep end, ya know?

As Marc Berman says, it's slipping a little bit, but it's not going to be cancelled.

As for Coupling, you do know that NBC is bringing it stateside?

I hadn't heard that. I guess they're trying to tool something up for when the Friends finally all go their separate ways.

Then again, I'm still waiting for the re-tool of Fever Pitch set in Baaaahston. (The original is wonderful. Ignore the crappy US DVD and VHS cover.)

Yeah, I heard that, as well as the various cast members that keep coming and going from the project. Sounds practically doomed already. Add that to the fact various other BBC shows attempted across the pond have been so royalled smegged up because the American producers just didn't get it... I'm thinking Faulty Towers (Payne was payneful...) and Red Dwarf(a female cate played by Terry Farrell. Need I continue?).

*sigh* Perhaps... perhaps... perhaps...

Does that mean there might be hope for a revival of SportsNight?

Just hoping...

I wouldn't hold your breath -- you'd turn into a Smurf!

I haven't heard what, if anything, Sorkin is planning on as of yet. Whatever it ends up being, I'll probably watch it.

I'm sure I'm shooting myself in the foot by not watching West Wing, but since I got the impression AS chose it over SportsNight, I haven't been able to go there. I suppose I should; I'm sure it's a terrific show.

Now, if what Mr. Sorkin wants to do next is write a musical...gee, I wonder how I could get his attention...

I actually talked to a person who worked on SN (mind you, a cameraman, but...) and the impression was most definitely that SN was the red-headed step child to TWW. Of course, much of that might be that Sorkin had so many ... issues ... with ABC(Disney), whereas NBC and WB welcomed him with opened arms. My how times have changed.

Bravo is supposed to be reairing the first season of TWW starting later this year. The first two seasons are as good as SN season 1. If you have a regionless DVD player, TWW Season 1 is available in a Region 2 DVD already. No plans have been made for a Region 1 release. *grr*
