Quickee

Please save me. I'm watching Kull the Conqueror.

More questions, this time courtesy of pettitte96.

1) Male Holly or Female Holly? Why?
*pulling from my LJ icons*

Male Holly. I just liked him rather than her. *shrug*

2) I notice you've listed Deep Space Nine as one of your interests, but none of the other versions. Have you watched any of the others? Why do you prefer DS9? (DS9 is my favorite of all of the versions, actually.)
Yes, I am a fan of TOS and TNG as well. Voyager left me feeling blah, and I fell asleep during the few Enterprise episodes that I have seen. I prefer DS9 over all the others because of the wonderful story arc that they created as well as the depth of characters. It's for that same reason that I'm also a big fan of Babylon 5, but that's another posting (or 20). BTW, the have rebooted the DS9 book series so that it is an unofficial Season 8. Worth a read if you are interested... The reboot starts with Avatar Books 1 and 2 by S. D. Perry.

3) I don't have a Tivo, and am reluctant to get one because of the whole thing where it spies on you. Would you recommend it? Why or why not?
*pulling another from my LJ icons, courtesy of solcita*

TiVo good. TiVo very good. =) I don't personally believe the whole spying thing, though they have received information specifically approved by me. They do also collect aggregate information. Either way, the bennies of TiVo far outweigh anything that they would gather.

4) Ok, I'm stealing one from you. Dana or Natalie? Be prepared to justify your answer. *g*
Natalie. Part of this is that I have liked Sabrina Lloyd for some time anyway. (Shallowness, my name is Carl...) But she likes the geeks, and wouldn't force me to go through the Disasterous Dating Plan like Dana. Besides, I like women who are openly honest, which Natalie (and, in real life, my wife) is and Dana is not as much...

5) Are you, in fact, a Cube of Fun? Where did you get the title of your journal?
Heh... That goes back first to where I got the name Rialtus, which you can find here. In continuance of the name, I dubbed this the Cube o' Fun. This all, of course, goes back to question 2...

Time to make dinner, before Jen gets home. We also have someone coming out tonight to look at landscaping the back yard, along with a patio. w00t!

I'm completely with you on the Dana-vs-Natalie thing, though this stage direction from a "Sports Night" script amuses the heck out of me:

DANA, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, IS WEARING BLACK BIKER LEATHERS.
HEAD TO TOE, NO LIE.  SHE LOOKS KINDA LIKE MICHELLE PFEIFFER
IN BATMAN ONLY BETTER 'CAUSE, WELL, DANA'S BETTER LOOKING
THAN MICHELLE PFEIFFER.

Uh, no, I can't agree there. At least not as cast.

Soooo...what's for dinner? You can't leave us hangin' like that.

Re: home ownership (spinning off your landscaping comment): you got thoughts on Radon remediation, preferably some that'll keep me from being panicked?

Dana hotter than Pfeiffer? Well now... I guess everyone is allowed their opinion. Of course, Biker Chick Dana was one of the first indications that Season 2 was really not much like Season 1...

*~*~*

Dinner was Grilled Sesame Chicken with Sesame Broccoli. The chicken was average, but the broccoli was good.

I'll be honest, I have no idea. The tests for Radon at our house was okay, so I haven't heard or done anything else about it. Have you hit the EPA site yet?

1. Maybe not quite like season 1, but I liked it plenty. Both more broadly comic (e.g., the biker chick bit) and much darker (Dan's breakdown).

2. Well, see, there's your problem. Sesame and sesame? (Though the sesame broccoli sounds wonderful. Where's the recipe?)

3. The EPA site was helpful. Doesn't look as bad as I thought. And the lawyer handling the sale for us says he's never seen a case at even twice our level that wasn't fully remediated. (Man, I hate that verb. Add it to the list of Words I've Never Said Before June 2003.)

Sesame Broccoli

1 cup water
1 pound fresh broccoli, cut into spears
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
4 teaspoons olive or canola oil, divided
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce

In a large saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add broccoli. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5-7 minutes or until crisp-tender. Meanwhile, in a small skillet, saute sesame seeds in 1 teaspoon oil until lightly browned. Remove for the heat. Stir in the sugar, lemon juice, soy sauce and remaining oil. Drain broccoli; toss with sesame seed mixute.

Yield: They say 8 servings...

8 servings?
Hah! That sounds like dinner for two and some leftovers for lunch the next day! Yum! Thanks.

They lied
We weighed the one pound of broccoli as one pound of spears. It surely wasn't 8 servings. We had two rather large servings that night, and Jen had what was left over one night further. I'd guess there were about four realistic servings.

What the above doesn't mention is that letting the dish sit for a little while prior to serving helps the sauce get into the broccoli,, which significantly helps the flavoring...

And this icon... it's the first time I could use the pun!

The sitting for a few minutes is a good idea. Thanks.

Nice icon...but aren't you concerned that Gates & Co. will smack you for unauthorized use? :)

The minute Gates & Co get down to the level of looking at user icons on LJ for cpoyright infringement is the day when I realize who we really do serve. =)
