Pointless fluffy post with no substance

After several days of intense sinus/allergy/sick, I tried something new to me today. I had been taking Advil Cold & Sinus, which has been doing ... squat. We have gotten a set of Advil Allergy Sinus with significant coupon savings some time back, and I decided that this headache deserved something new. Well, things have been looking up since then. The coughing and phlem are gone, the headache has deminished significantly, and the amount of muccus has gone down to normal people level. Me thinks I have a new drug of choice.

In other news, I didn't know that John Ritter was in an episode of M*A*S*H, which also has Pat Morita in it. (As calliaume shakes his head...) I thought for a second that Tommy Lee Jones was in the same episode too, but it was not he.

How in Hades did it get so warm in SoCal suddenly? In Ontario, it's 90 degrees currently, according to that WeatherPixie in my userinfo page. Guess it's time to start blocking the windows upstairs to prevent the sun coming through again. The upstairs bed has a rather large window that faces west, and causes the whole room to heat up unreasonably during the summer.

A few friends of mine have asked to come over to the house this Sunday to make use of the BBQ et al, and watch WrestleMania. I haven't regularly watched anything wrestling for years now, and wonder if it will be just like a daytime soap opera -- ten minutes and I'm right up to speed. Of course, I really only cared about things in terms of the business -- especially the struggle between WWF and WCW and how they played off each other. Now that everything is one, it's just not that interesting to me... My friends, however, are big marks.

Plus side to this, though, is seeing right through Jon's act on Survivor. Jen watched the show more than I, but I constantly heard the references. And once I saw that friend walk up and announce about the grandmother ... I instantly looked at Jen and said "It's a work. The grandmother's alive." She didn't believe me, and accused me of searching things up on the net. *shrug*

Is Vern Yip no longer associated with Trading Spaces? He's the only one of the older designers that isn't involved with TS:HF, and I don't recall having seen him on any version of the show in ages. I mean, with all of these new, irritating designers it's hard to notice when someone goes missing, but still ...

Mozilla Firefox 0.8 is one of the most perfect browsers that I have seen in a while. It's fast, has built-in pop-up blockers, has tabbed browsing, and oh yeah, fast. There are two things that I don't like -- there is no ad-blocking, and too many websites are now specifically coded to IE. Specifically, many of my work programs (USD, any Trend Micro web-based program) are hard coded to use IE. It's to the point where I can't even log into those systems because I don't meet the "minimum systems requirements" blah blah blah. So I still have to use IE.

I had fun with the last round of guess_that_show. I made a bit of a change by putting in a degressive (?) theme bonus, because the theme was semi-difficult while the actual games were not. It resolved my problem that I had with the last round I hosted (9 people tied for first at the end) but got me into some other troubles. Guess the next round I do will just have to be hard. =(

Holy crud is this a long post that says nothing...

You know what's weird is that we had temperatures in the 40s and 50s seemingly all the time here, and it shot up to 90?!? No wonder my voice has been so weird lately, it's having this odd effect on me. Get well soon!

Ah, the "poker game goes on and on" episode....
That'll cost you a chip.

Also notable for Edward Winter's first appearance (in considerably less gung-ho mode than he usually was as Col. Flagg; I'm not sure if he actually was Flagg in this one), and Alan Arbus (Diana Arbus' ex-husband, as I recently discovered) as Maj. Sidney Freedman.

An eye-opener (Ritter was so young! Pat Morita didn't sound like Arnold in real life!). It's on the Season 1 DVD.

If you haven't noticed...
...the WWF is now known as the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). World Wildlife Fund (http://www.wwf.org/) sued the pro-wrestling league over the use of the initials WWF and won. As result, the wrestling company changed the last word its its name from Federation to Entertainment, thus the WWE acronym. The Website address is now http://www.wwe.com/.

If you go to http://www.wwf.com/ now, you'll find wrestling-oriented bulletin boards. In this case, WWF stands for Web Wrestling Forums.
