The way we were...

So today I convinced my boss to let me upgrade my memory on my IBM ThinkPad T30 from 256MB to something respectable. Needing to know what slots were available, I popped the memory cover off and noticed no slots available. *eerk* Looked at this again, and noticed that both the slots were taken with 256 MB DIMMs. WTF?

Come to find out that IBM had a batch of ThinkPads that had a bad DIMM slot, therefore refusing to acknowledge the additional memory. I've had 512 MB all this time, and never able to use it... I'm getting the motherboard fixed under warranty service, and then still getting a memory bump to the max of 1 GB. =)

Stoopid dumb IBM....

EDIT 1:40 pm: AAARGH! They actually have to take my laptop away to replace the motherboard! It's a good think I'm going on vacation...

While I don't understand *most* of what you posted about (computer-illiterate here) I'm glad you're alive and well ;)

Alive, yes. Well, frankly, as always been a point of contention. ;)

At least the timing works for the repair. Who wants to bring their laptop on holiday anyway?

(This said after I made sure our laptop was up-to-date on Windoze fixes and fully charged for the trip to Wage$.)
